Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Conrad of Montferrat

Conrad of Montferrat, born around the year 1146, emerged as a prominent military leader and aristocrat during a tumultuous period in history. His life was marked by significant involvement in the Third Crusade, where he played a crucial role in the complex political and military landscape of the time.

In November of 1190, Conrad solidified his position as a key figure in the region by marrying Isabella I of Jerusalem. This union granted him the title of de facto King of Jerusalem, known as Conrad I. However, it was not until shortly before his untimely death in April of 1192 that he was officially elected to the throne.

In addition to his royal aspirations, Conrad held the esteemed title of the eighth Marquess of Montferrat from the year 1191. His leadership and noble lineage positioned him as a significant player in the ongoing struggles for power in the Holy Land.
