Corina Casanova

Corina Casanova, born on January fourth, nineteen fifty-six, in Ilanz, Grisons, is a distinguished Swiss jurist and politician. She served as the Federal Chancellor of Switzerland from two thousand eight to two thousand fifteen, marking a significant period in Swiss political history.

Before her ascent to the chancellorship, Casanova honed her legal expertise working alongside Giusep Nay, the former President of the Swiss Federal Supreme Court. Her career also included roles as a Red Cross delegate in various countries, including South Africa, Angola, Nicaragua, and El Salvador, showcasing her commitment to humanitarian efforts.

In August two thousand five, she was elected Vice-Chancellor by the Swiss Federal Assembly, a role that paved the way for her election as Chancellor in December two thousand seven. Additionally, she was appointed to the directional committee for electronic government in Switzerland by the Swiss Federal Council in March two thousand eight.

A member of the Christian Democratic People's Party, Casanova is multilingual, fluent in six languages: Romansh, German, French, Italian, English, and Spanish, which reflects her diverse background and ability to connect with a wide range of constituents.
