Cornelia Oschkenat

Cornelia Oschkenat, born on October twenty-ninth, nineteen sixty-one, is a distinguished former track and field athlete from Germany, who proudly represented East Germany during her competitive career.

She made her mark on the international stage by competing in the 1988 Olympic Games held in Seoul. Oschkenat's remarkable performance at the 1987 World Championships in Rome earned her a bronze medal in the 100 metres hurdles, clocking an impressive time of twelve point forty-six seconds. Additionally, she contributed to the East German 4 × 100 metres relay team, securing a silver medal.

Oschkenat's accolades extend beyond the Olympics and World Championships. She clinched the title of World Indoor champion in the 60 m hurdles in nineteen eighty-seven and achieved two World Cup titles in the 100 m hurdles. Her prowess in the sport is further highlighted by her three European Indoor titles in the 60 m hurdles.

In nineteen eighty-eight, she set a world indoor record for the 50 metres hurdles with a time of six point fifty-eight seconds, a record that remains unbroken as of two thousand nineteen. Throughout her career, Oschkenat amassed eleven East German individual national titles, including five in the 100 m hurdles from nineteen eighty-four to nineteen eighty-nine and six consecutive titles in the 60 m hurdles at the East German Indoor Athletics Championships.
