Cosimo Rosselli

Cosimo Rosselli, born in the year one thousand four hundred thirty-nine, was a prominent Italian painter of the Quattrocento period. His artistic journey began in Florence, his birthplace, where he became a significant figure in the local art scene. Early in his career, he also worked in Pisa, showcasing his talent beyond his hometown.

One of the highlights of Rosselli's career was his involvement in the Sistine Chapel in Rome during the years one thousand four hundred eighty-one to one thousand four hundred eighty-two. Here, he contributed to the grand frescoes that adorned the side walls, sharing the space with renowned artists such as Sandro Botticelli, Pietro Perugino, and Domenico Ghirlandaio.

While often considered a lesser talent compared to his contemporaries, Rosselli's ability to secure significant commissions throughout his career speaks volumes about his skill and dedication. His notable works include a fresco in the cloister of Santissima Annunziata and projects in the Chapel of the Holy Blood in Sant'Ambrogio, both located in Florence.
