Costante Girardengo, born on March eighteenth, nineteen ninety-three, was an iconic Italian professional road bicycle racer, celebrated as one of the greatest riders in the sport's history. His remarkable career spanned from nineteen twelve to nineteen thirty-six, with a significant interruption due to World War I, which deprived him of some of his prime years.

Renowned for his exceptional talent, Girardengo was the first athlete to be honored with the title of 'Campionissimo,' or 'champion of champions,' by the Italian media and fans. During the peak of his career in the nineteen twenties, he achieved a level of popularity that rivaled even that of Mussolini, leading to the extraordinary decree that all express trains should halt in his hometown of Novi Ligure, a privilege typically reserved for heads of state.

His illustrious achievements include two victories in the Giro d'Italia, six wins in Milan–San Remo, and three triumphs in the Giro di Lombardia. Additionally, he claimed the title of Italian road race champion on nine occasions.
