Cristian Săpunaru

Cristian Săpunaru, born on April fifth, nineteen eighty-four, is a distinguished Romanian former professional footballer known for his versatility on the field. Primarily recognized as a centre-back, he also showcased his skills as a right-back and defensive midfielder throughout his career.

His professional journey began in two thousand two with Național București, where he laid the foundation for his footballing prowess. Four years later, he made a significant impact at Rapid București, further establishing his reputation in Romanian football.

In two thousand eight, Săpunaru took a bold step by signing with Porto in Portugal. During his four-year tenure with the club, he achieved remarkable success, securing ten major honors, including the prestigious UEFA Europa League title in the twenty ten–eleven season.

After his successful stint in Portugal, he ventured into Spanish football, playing for Zaragoza and Elche over the next two seasons. In the latter part of his career, Săpunaru returned to Romania and also had spells in Turkey, continuing to contribute to the sport he loves.

On the international stage, Săpunaru represented Romania from two thousand eight to two thousand nineteen, earning thirty-six caps and participating in two European Championships, showcasing his talent on a larger platform.
