Crown Prince Sado

Crown Prince Sado, born Yi Seon on January twenty-first, seventeen thirty-five, was the second son of King Yeongjo of Joseon. His mother, Royal Noble Consort Yeong of the Jeonui Yi clan, played a significant role in his early life. As the younger half-brother of Crown Prince Hyojang, who had passed away, Sado was seen as the likely heir to the throne, carrying the weight of expectations from a young age.

Despite his royal lineage, Sado's life was marked by tragedy and turmoil. He was known for his talents, particularly in calligraphy, which showcased his artistic abilities. However, his life took a dark turn when he faced severe conflict with his father, leading to his eventual confinement.

In a harrowing turn of events, at the age of twenty-seven, Crown Prince Sado met a tragic end. He was confined in a rice chest during the sweltering summer months, a punishment ordered by his father. This confinement ultimately led to his death, likely due to dehydration and possibly starvation, a poignant reminder of the complexities of royal life in Joseon.
