Currensy

Shante Scott Franklin, known to the world as Currensy, is an influential American rapper, music executive, songwriter, and entrepreneur born on April 4, 1981, in New Orleans, Louisiana. His journey in the music industry began in the mid-2000s when he signed with prominent local labels such as Cash Money Records and Young Money Entertainment. Despite his early associations, Currensy parted ways with these labels without releasing any major projects.

After his initial experiences, Currensy found a new home with DD172, where he released four albums that showcased his unique style and lyrical prowess. His career took a significant turn when he signed with Warner Records, leading to the release of his fifth album, Weekend at Burnie's, in 2011, marking his major label debut.

In February of the same year, Currensy established his own record label, Jet Life Recordings, further solidifying his presence in the music industry. He is perhaps best known for his hit single, 'Bottom of the Bottle,' featuring Lil Wayne and August Alsina, which remains his only entry on the Billboard Hot 100, highlighting his impact on the hip-hop scene.
