Curt Giles

Curt Giles, born on November thirtieth, nineteen fifty-eight, is a distinguished Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He was selected by the Minnesota North Stars during the 1978 NHL Entry Draft, marking the beginning of a notable career in the National Hockey League.

Giles enjoyed two significant tenures with the North Stars, spanning from nineteen seventy-nine to nineteen eighty-six and again from nineteen eighty-seven to nineteen ninety-one. His consistent and reliable defensive play was instrumental in leading the North Stars to the Stanley Cup Finals in both nineteen eighty-one and nineteen ninety-one, showcasing his impact on the ice.

In addition to his time with the North Stars, Giles also played for the New York Rangers and the St. Louis Blues. A testament to his dedication, he underwent a partial amputation of his left ring finger on March twenty-fourth, nineteen eighty-six, to continue competing in the Stanley Cup playoffs, having missed the end of the nineteen eighty-five to nineteen eighty-six regular season due to a tumor in the bone.

After retiring from professional play, Giles transitioned into coaching and currently serves as the head hockey coach at Edina High School in Minnesota. Under his leadership, the team has achieved remarkable success, winning state titles in two thousand ten, two thousand thirteen, two thousand fourteen, two thousand nineteen, and two thousand twenty-four.
