Cymburgis of Masovia

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Cymburgis of Masovia

Cymburgis of Masovia, born in either 1394 or 1397, was a notable figure in the Polish Piast dynasty. As a Princess of Masovia, she played a significant role in the political landscape of her time. Her marriage to Ernest the Iron, a duke of the Habsburg family, marked the beginning of her influence in Austria, where she served as Duchess from 1412 until 1424.

Throughout her life, Cymburgis was not only a consort but also a mother to Frederick III, who would later become Emperor. This connection made her a pivotal ancestor in the lineage of the Habsburgs, as she was the second female ancestor of all subsequent Habsburgs, following Gertrude of Hohenberg.

Cymburgis's legacy is intertwined with the survival of the Ernestine branch of the Habsburg family, which continued in the male line. Her contributions to the dynastic politics of Europe during the early fifteenth century remain a significant aspect of her historical importance.
