In 2011, Cyprus made its mark at the Eurovision Song Contest with the heartfelt ballad "San aggelos s'agapisa," a creation of talented songwriters Andreas Anastasiou and Michalis Antoniou. The song was brought to life by the captivating vocals of Christos Mylordos, who emerged victorious from a competitive talent show organized by the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC).

The selection process for the Cypriot representative was a thrilling journey, culminating in a final held on 10 September 2010. Out of thirty-nine contestants, Mylordos stood out, securing his place to represent Cyprus in Düsseldorf, Germany. The anticipation built as the song was officially unveiled to the public on 20 January 2011, showcasing the nation’s musical aspirations.

Cyprus was set to compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest on 12 May 2011, where Mylordos performed in the ninth position. Despite the hopes pinned on the performance, "San aggelos s'agapisa" did not make it to the final, finishing in a disappointing eighteenth place out of nineteen entries, garnering a total of sixteen points.
