Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Damat Ibrahim Pasha

Damat Ibrahim Pasha, born in 1550, was a prominent Ottoman military commander and statesman who served as grand vizier on three separate occasions. His first term began on April fourth, 1596, and concluded on October twenty-seventh of the same year. He returned to the position from December fifth, 1596, to November third, 1597, and held his final term from January sixth, 1599, until July tenth, 1601. He is celebrated as the conqueror of Kanije, a significant achievement in his military career.

Originating from Mehmed-Kanije, Damat Ibrahim Pasha was born on May twenty-eighth, 1517. He received his education at military schools across various cities within the Ottoman Empire, which prepared him for a distinguished career in the Ottoman army. His active service included participation in the Battle of Keresztes in October 1596, where he demonstrated his military prowess under the reign of Sultan Mehmed III.

His title, 'damat,' meaning 'bridegroom,' reflects his marriage to Ayşe Sultan, one of the daughters of the sultan, thereby linking him to the Ottoman dynasty. Through this union, he had a son, Sultanzade Mehmed Bey, who tragically died in infancy, and a daughter who also did not survive past birth. It is important to note that he should not be confused with Pargalı Ibrahim Pasha, a notable grand vizier of Suleiman the Magnificent, or with Nevşehirli Damat Ibrahim Pasha, who served in the early eighteenth century during the Tulip Era.
