Dan McKee

Daniel J. McKee, born on June 16, 1951, is a prominent American politician and businessman who has been serving as the 76th governor of Rhode Island since 2021. A dedicated member of the Democratic Party, McKee previously held the position of Rhode Island's 69th lieutenant governor from 2015 to 2021, showcasing his commitment to public service.

Raised in Cumberland, Rhode Island, McKee pursued higher education at Assumption College, where he earned his undergraduate degree, followed by a master's degree from the prestigious Harvard Kennedy School. His political journey began on the Cumberland town council, where he served from 1992 to 1998, and he later held the office of mayor of Cumberland in two separate terms, first from 2000 to 2004 and again from 2006 until 2014.

In 2014, McKee was elected as lieutenant governor and successfully secured reelection in 2018. His ascent to the governorship came in 2021 when he took office following the resignation of Governor Gina Raimondo, who was confirmed as the United States Secretary of Commerce. McKee continued to build on his political legacy by winning a full term in 2022.
