Dana Rosemary Scallon

Dana Rosemary Scallon, born Rosemary Brown on August 30, 1950, is an accomplished Irish singer, songwriter, and politician. She first captured the world's attention as a schoolgirl when she won the 1970 Eurovision Song Contest with her hit song 'All Kinds of Everything.' This remarkable achievement not only marked the beginning of her illustrious music career but also led to the song becoming a worldwide million-seller.

Transitioning from music to politics, Dana entered the political arena in 1997, running for the Irish presidential election under her full name, Dana Rosemary Scallon. Although she did not succeed in this initial bid, her political journey continued as she was elected as a Member of the European Parliament for Connacht–Ulster in 1999. Her tenure in the European Parliament lasted until 2004, during which she made significant contributions.

In 2011, Dana once again sought the presidency as an independent candidate in the Irish presidential election. Despite her efforts, she was eliminated on the first count. Throughout her career, Dana has demonstrated a unique blend of artistic talent and political ambition, making her a notable figure in both fields.
