Dani Stevens

Dani Stevens, born on May 26, 1988, is a distinguished Australian retired discus thrower who made history in 2009 by becoming the youngest female world champion in the event. Her remarkable career is highlighted by her status as the current national and Oceanian record holder in discus throw.

Stevens' journey in athletics began with a bang when she clinched the gold medal in discus and a bronze in shot put at the 2005 World Youth Championships in Athletics. At just seventeen, she showcased her talent on a larger stage by winning a bronze medal in discus at the 2006 Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne. Her prowess continued to shine as she secured a silver medal in discus at the 2007 Summer Universiade and represented Australia at her inaugural World Championships shortly thereafter.

In a significant milestone, Stevens reached the finals of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, setting the stage for her extraordinary performance the following year. In 2009, she achieved a remarkable feat by winning the gold medal at the World Championships in Athletics, solidifying her place among the elite in her sport.

Among her many accolades, Stevens is one of only eleven athletes, including legends like Valerie Adams and Usain Bolt, to have won World Championship titles at youth, junior, and senior levels in athletics. Her personal best throws stand at an impressive sixty-nine point sixty-four meters for discus and seventeen point zero five meters in shot put.

In addition to her athletic achievements, Stevens has also enjoyed a winter career in basketball, playing in the Waratah League alongside her sister, Jamie, who has competed in the Women's National Basketball League.
