Daniel Everett

Daniel Everett, born on July twenty-six, nineteen fifty-one, is a distinguished American linguist and author renowned for his groundbreaking research on the Pirahã people and their unique language in the Amazon basin. His work has not only contributed to the field of linguistics but has also sparked significant discussions about language and culture.

Currently, Everett holds the position of Trustee Professor of Cognitive Sciences at Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts, a role he has embraced since two thousand twenty-five. His academic journey includes a notable tenure as Dean of Arts and Sciences at Bentley from July first, two thousand ten, to June thirtieth, two thousand eighteen.

Before his time at Bentley, Everett served as the chair of the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. His teaching career has also taken him to the University of Manchester and the University of Pittsburgh, where he was the former chair of the Linguistics Department, further solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in the study of language.
