Daniel Grenier

Daniel Grenier is a talented Canadian writer hailing from Quebec, recognized for his significant contributions to both fiction and translation. His debut novel, L’année la plus longue, earned him a nomination for the prestigious Governor General's Award for French-language fiction in two thousand sixteen, marking a notable entry into the literary scene.

A graduate of the Université du Québec à Montréal, Grenier showcased his storytelling prowess with the publication of his short story collection, Malgré tout on rit à Saint-Henri, in two thousand twelve. He further expanded his literary repertoire in two thousand fourteen with Douce détresse, a French translation of Anna Leventhal's acclaimed short story collection, Sweet Affliction.

In addition to his fiction work, Grenier's non-fiction book, La solitude de l'écrivain de fond, was shortlisted for the Governor General's Award for French-language non-fiction in two thousand seventeen. His expertise in translation has also been recognized, as he has received four nominations for the Governor General's Award for English to French translation, with notable works including Andrew Forbes's The Utility of Boredom: Baseball Essays and Dawn Dumont's Rose's Run.
