Daniel Petit

Daniel Petit, born on September twenty-seventh, nineteen forty-eight, is a distinguished Canadian lawyer and politician. A graduate of Université Laval, he was called to the Quebec bar in nineteen seventy-three, marking the beginning of a notable legal career. As a founding partner of the law firm Petit, Beaudoin, Société nominale d'avocats, Petit has specialized in labour and administrative law, showcasing his expertise in these fields.

His political journey began in the early nineteen eighties when he became actively involved with the Conservative Party and its predecessor, the Progressive Conservatives. Petit made a significant impact on Canadian politics when he was elected to the House of Commons in the two thousand six federal election, representing the riding of Charlesbourg—Haute-Saint-Charles as a Conservative Member of Parliament. In a competitive race, he successfully defeated the incumbent Bloc Québécois MP Richard Marceau.

Despite his initial success, Petit faced a setback in the two thousand eleven election, where he was defeated by Anne-Marie Day of the New Democratic Party. Nevertheless, his commitment to public service remains evident as he currently holds the position of legal commission president for the Conservative Party of Quebec, continuing to influence the political landscape in the province.
