Daniel Tracey

Daniel Tracey, born in Roscrea, Tipperary County, Ireland in 1794, was a multifaceted individual who made significant contributions as a journalist, politician, and physician in Lower Canada, now known as Quebec.

In 1825, Tracey emigrated to the Province of Lower Canada with his younger siblings, embarking on a journey that would see him engage deeply in the political and social fabric of his new home. Despite his medical training in Dublin, he never registered to practice medicine in Lower Canada, which led him to explore other avenues of influence.

As a journalist, Tracey utilized his skills to inform and engage the public, while his political endeavors allowed him to advocate for the needs and rights of his community. His diverse background and experiences shaped his perspectives and contributions to society.
