Daniele De Rossi

Daniele De Rossi, born on July 24, 1983, is a distinguished Italian football manager and former professional player, currently serving as the head coach of Serie A club Genoa. Renowned for his role as a central defensive midfielder, De Rossi's career is marked by his long-standing association with his hometown club, Roma, where he made a significant impact over eighteen seasons.

De Rossi made his professional debut with Roma during the 2001–02 season, quickly establishing himself as a key player. He made his Serie A debut the following year and went on to win the Coppa Italia twice, in 2007 and 2008, along with the 2007 Supercoppa Italiana. His exceptional talent was recognized when he was named Serie A Young Footballer of the Year in 2006 and later the Serie A Italian Footballer of the Year in 2009.

In the 2017–18 season, De Rossi inherited the captaincy of Roma following the retirement of Francesco Totti. Under his leadership, the team reached the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in the competition's modern era. After making six hundred and sixteen appearances for Roma, he departed the club at the end of the 2018–19 season, becoming the second-most capped player in the club's history.

On the international stage, De Rossi represented Italy at various levels, including under-19, under-20, under-21, and senior teams. He was part of the squad that won the 2006 FIFA World Cup and also earned a bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics. Over his international career, he earned one hundred and seventeen caps, making him Italy's joint fourth-highest capped player and the most capped midfielder in the nation's history.

De Rossi's legacy includes being the highest-scoring midfielder for Italy post-World War II, with twenty-one goals. He participated in multiple international tournaments, including Euro 2008, the 2010 World Cup, and Euro 2012, where he was named in the Team of the Tournament. After a brief stint with Boca Juniors in Argentina, he retired from professional football in January 2020.
