Massaro is particularly renowned for his impactful tenure at AC Milan during the late eighties and nineties, where he thrived under the guidance of legendary managers Arrigo Sacchi and Fabio Capello. His time at Milan was marked by remarkable achievements, including four Serie A titles and two European Cup/UEFA Champions League titles.
