Danielle Fournier

Danielle Fournier, born on October first, nineteen fifty-five, is a distinguished Quebec educator and writer, renowned for her contributions to poetry, fiction, and critical essays. Hailing from Montreal, she pursued her academic journey with a PhD in literature from the Université de Sherbrooke, complemented by studies in German at the University of New Brunswick.

Her teaching career spans several prestigious institutions, including the Université de Sherbrooke, the University of New Brunswick, McGill University, the Université du Québec à Montréal, Concordia University, and the Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf, where she held a permanent position. This extensive experience has solidified her reputation as a dedicated educator in the literary field.

Fournier's literary works have graced various esteemed magazines such as Exit, Arcade, Estuaire, Moebius, Spirale, Urgences, Québec français, and Voix et Images. Additionally, her poetry and essays have been featured in numerous anthologies, showcasing her versatility and depth as a writer.

In recognition of her literary achievements, she received the Prix Alain-Grandbois in two thousand three for her poetry collection, Poèmes perdus en Hongrie. Her work continued to garner acclaim, with Il n'y a rien d'intact dans ma chair being a finalist for the Governor General's Award for French-language poetry in two thousand five, and her collection, effleurés de lumière, winning that prestigious award in two thousand ten.
