Daniyal Akhmetov

Daniyal Akhmetov, born on June fifteenth, nineteen fifty-four, is a prominent Kazakh politician, economist, and military personnel. He served as the sixth Prime Minister of Kazakhstan from June thirteenth, two thousand three, until January ninth, two thousand seven. His tenure was marked by significant political challenges and controversies.

Known for his decisive leadership style, Akhmetov earned the nickname 'The Terminator' during his time as the akim of Pavlodar Region. This moniker stemmed from his vigorous actions to suppress the supporters of Galymzhan Zhakiyanov, the former akim, which drew both criticism and admiration.

On January eighth, two thousand seven, Akhmetov resigned from his position as Prime Minister without providing a specific reason. His resignation followed criticism from President Nursultan Nazarbayev regarding overspending and administrative errors. Following his resignation, he was appointed as the acting Prime Minister immediately.

After his term as Prime Minister, Akhmetov transitioned to a role in defense, becoming the Minister of Defense in the government that took office on January tenth, two thousand seven. However, he was dismissed from this position in June two thousand nine. Later, from November eleventh, two thousand fourteen, until June sixteenth, two thousand twenty-three, he served as the akim of the East Kazakhstan Region, further solidifying his influence in Kazakh politics.
