Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Dannel Malloy

Dannel Malloy, born on July twenty-first, nineteen fifty-five, is a prominent American politician and lawyer who made significant contributions to the state of Connecticut. He served as the 88th governor from January fifth, two thousand eleven, to January ninth, two thousand nineteen. A dedicated member of the Democratic Party, Malloy also chaired the Democratic Governors Association from two thousand sixteen to two thousand seventeen.

Raised in Stamford, Connecticut, Malloy pursued higher education at Boston College, earning both his undergraduate and law degrees. His career began in nineteen eighty as an assistant district attorney in New York, after which he returned to Stamford to practice law privately. His political journey commenced with his tenure on the Stamford board of finance from nineteen eighty-four to nineteen ninety-four, leading to his election as Mayor of Stamford, where he served four consecutive terms from December nineteen ninety-five to December two thousand nine.

In two thousand six, Malloy made his first bid for the governorship but lost the Democratic primary to John DeStefano, Jr. Undeterred, he ran again in two thousand ten, winning the primary against Ned Lamont with fifty-seven percent of the vote. In the general election, he narrowly defeated Thomas C. Foley, the former United States Ambassador to Ireland, by fewer than six thousand five hundred votes. Malloy was re-elected in a rematch with Foley in two thousand fourteen, increasing his victory margin to over twenty-eight thousand votes.

Despite his electoral successes, Malloy faced challenges during his governorship, including a low job approval rating of twenty-one percent by July two thousand eighteen. On April thirteenth, two thousand seventeen, he announced that he would not seek re-election in two thousand eighteen, ultimately being succeeded by Democrat Ned Lamont.

Since July two thousand nineteen, Malloy has taken on the role of Chancellor of the University of Maine System, continuing his commitment to public service and education.
