Loader represented New Zealand at two Summer Olympics, competing in Barcelona in nineteen ninety-two and Atlanta in nineteen ninety-six. His Olympic journey began with a silver medal in the 200 metre butterfly in Barcelona, followed by an extraordinary performance in Atlanta, where he clinched two gold medals in the 200 and 400 metre freestyle events.
