Dara Singh, born on November nineteenth, nineteen twenty-eight, was a multifaceted Indian professional wrestler, actor, and politician. He is celebrated as one of India's greatest wrestlers, achieving international acclaim during the 1950s and 1960s for his remarkable victories in both Indian and global wrestling arenas. His crowning achievement came in nineteen sixty-eight when he claimed the world championship title by defeating the legendary Lou Thesz.

Transitioning from the wrestling ring to the silver screen, Singh made a significant impact in Indian cinema, appearing in over one hundred Hindi and Punjabi films. He often portrayed strong, heroic, and religious characters, with his most iconic roles being Hanuman in the film Bajrangbali, released in nineteen seventy-six, and in the acclaimed television series Ramayan, which aired from nineteen eighty-seven to nineteen eighty-eight.

In addition to his illustrious career in sports and entertainment, Singh ventured into politics, becoming the first sportsperson to be nominated as a Member of the Rajya Sabha, serving from two thousand three to two thousand nine.
