Darcy Marquardt

Darcy Marquardt, born on March 22, 1979, is a distinguished Canadian rower whose athletic career spans over a decade. A graduate of the University of Victoria in 2005, she majored in French and minored in Psychology, showcasing her diverse talents beyond the rowing arena.

Her journey with the National Women's Rowing Team began in 2002, where she quickly made her mark by winning a silver medal in the women's fours event at the World Championships in Seville, Spain. The following year, she added a bronze medal to her collection in the eights at the World Championships and Olympic Qualifier in Milan, Italy.

Darcy's Olympic journey includes a notable fourth-place finish at the 2004 Summer Olympics alongside her partner Buffy-Lynne Williams. She achieved remarkable success in 2006, becoming the World Champion in the Women's Pairs with Jane Thornton. Her prowess continued as she secured another fourth-place finish in the women's eight at the 2008 Summer Olympics and earned two additional silver medals in the women's eights at the World Championships in 2010 and 2011.

Her crowning achievement came in 2012 when she won an Olympic silver medal in the Women's Eight at the Summer Olympics in London, solidifying her legacy as one of Canada's premier rowers.
