Dave Kitson, born on January 21, 1980, is an English former professional footballer whose career began in the non-league with Hitchin Town and Arlesey Town. His talent quickly shone through, leading him to join Cambridge United in 2001, where he emerged as one of the most promising players in the Third Division.
In 2003, Kitson's impressive performances caught the attention of Reading, who signed him for a fee of one hundred fifty thousand pounds. He played a pivotal role in Reading's historic Championship title win in 2006, helping the team secure promotion to the Premier League for the first time with a record-breaking total of one hundred six points.
After two seasons in the Premier League, Reading faced relegation, prompting Kitson to make a move to Stoke City for a club record fee of five million five hundred thousand pounds. His career continued with loan spells at Reading and Middlesbrough before he joined Portsmouth, where he spent two seasons.
In August 2012, amidst financial turmoil at Portsmouth, Kitson's contract was cancelled. He then signed a short-term deal with Sheffield United before committing to a two-year contract with Oxford United in June 2013, marking the next chapter in his football journey.
