David A. Granger

David A. Granger, born on July fifteenth, nineteen forty-five, is a distinguished Guyanese politician and writer. He made history as the ninth president of Guyana, serving from 2015 to 2020. Granger's political journey is marked by his commitment to public service and national security, having previously held the position of Commander of the Guyana Defence Force.

Before ascending to the presidency, Granger was an influential figure in the National Assembly, where he served as the leader of the Opposition from 2012 to 2015. His political career also includes a tenure as National Security Adviser from nineteen ninety to nineteen ninety-two, showcasing his dedication to the safety and security of his nation.

In the November two thousand eleven general election, Granger represented the opposition coalition as the presidential candidate, although he faced defeat. However, his perseverance paid off when he was elected president in the May two thousand fifteen general election. His presidency was not without challenges, as he lost a vote of confidence on December twenty-first, two thousand eighteen, which ultimately led to a snap election.
