David Bedford

David Bedford, born on August fourth, nineteen thirty-seven, was a distinguished English composer and musician whose talents spanned both popular and classical music. He was deeply rooted in a family of musical heritage, being the brother of conductor Steuart Bedford and the grandson of notable figures such as composer Herbert Bedford and composer Liza Lehmann. His mother, Lesley Duff, was a celebrated soprano opera singer, while his father, Leslie Bedford, was an inventor.

Bedford's career in music education began in the late nineteen sixties, where he taught in various secondary schools across London from nineteen sixty-eight to nineteen eighty. His commitment to nurturing young talent culminated in his role as Composer in Residence at Queen's College, London, from nineteen sixty-nine to nineteen eighty-one. In nineteen ninety-six, Bedford was appointed Composer in Association with the English Sinfonia, further solidifying his reputation in the classical music community. His leadership skills were recognized in two thousand one when he became Chairman of the Performing Right Society, having previously served as Deputy Chairman.
