David Lama

He made a significant mark in the climbing community by winning the European Championship in competition bouldering in two thousand seven and the European Championship in competition lead climbing in two thousand six.

One of Lama's most notable achievements was his first free ascent of the Compressor Route on the South-East Ridge of Cerro Torre, a feat that solidified his reputation as one of the leading climbers of his generation. His daring spirit and technical prowess were further exemplified in two thousand eighteen when he became the first climber to reach the summit of Lunag Ri in the Himalayas during a solo expedition.

Tragically, David Lama's life was cut short, but his contributions to the sport were recognized posthumously in two thousand nineteen when he was awarded the prestigious Piolet d'Or for his remarkable first ascent.
