David T. Lametti, born on August 10, 1962, in Port Colborne, Ontario, is a distinguished Canadian diplomat and lawyer. He has made significant contributions to Canadian politics, notably serving as the Minister of Justice and Attorney General from 2019 to 2023. A member of the Liberal Party, Lametti represented the LaSalle—Émard—Verdun constituency in Parliament from 2015 until 2024.
After his tenure in electoral politics, Lametti transitioned to a pivotal role as Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Mark Carney for a brief period in 2025. His diplomatic career reached new heights when he was appointed as the Canadian ambassador to the United Nations on November 17, 2025.
Lametti's academic background is equally impressive.
