David Magee, born in nineteen sixty-two, is a distinguished American screenwriter and actor known for his remarkable contributions to film. He garnered significant acclaim for his screenplay of 'Finding Neverland,' which earned him nominations for both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe in two thousand four. His collaboration with Simon Beaufoy on 'Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day,' featuring Frances McDormand and Amy Adams, further solidified his reputation in the industry.

In two thousand twelve, Magee adapted Yann Martel's celebrated novel 'Life of Pi,' a project that not only won him a Satellite Award for Best Adapted Screenplay but also led to another Academy Award nomination. Furthermore, in January two thousand twenty-two, it was announced that Marc Forster would direct Tom Hanks in an American adaptation of the Swedish novel 'A Man Called Ove,' retitled 'A Man Called Otto,' with Magee's script. This film was acquired by Sony Pictures and released in January two thousand twenty-three.
