David Schwimmer, born on November 2, 1966, is a multifaceted American actor, director, and producer, best known for his iconic role as Ross Geller in the beloved sitcom Friends, which aired from 1994 to 2004. His portrayal earned him a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 1995, solidifying his status in the entertainment industry.
Schwimmer's journey in acting began in his school days at Immanuel College Prep in Bushey, England, and later at Beverly Hills High School. He graduated from Northwestern University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts in theater and speech. Shortly after, he co-founded the Lookingglass Theatre Company in Chicago, marking the beginning of his professional career. His television debut came in 1989 with the film A Deadly Silence, followed by various roles in popular series such as L.A. Law and NYPD Blue.
