David Vitter

He made his mark in the political landscape of Louisiana, serving as a United States senator from two thousand five to two thousand seventeen. A member of the Republican Party, Vitter's political journey began in the Louisiana House of Representatives, where he served from nineteen ninety-two to nineteen ninety-nine, before moving on to the U.S. House of Representatives from nineteen ninety-nine to two thousand five.

In two thousand four, Vitter was elected to the U.S. Senate, making history as the first Republican to represent Louisiana in the Senate since the Reconstruction Era and the first ever Republican to be popularly elected.
