Dayananda Saraswati

Dayananda Saraswati, born Mool Shankar Tiwari on February twelfth, eighteen twenty-four, was a prominent Hindu philosopher and social leader who played a pivotal role in the reform movement of Hinduism. As the founder of the Arya Samaj, he sought to revive the Vedic religion by denouncing idolatry and ritualistic worship. His influential work, Satyarth Prakash, has become a cornerstone in the understanding of Vedic philosophy and the duties of human beings.

In eighteen seventy-six, Dayananda was the first to advocate for Swaraj, coining the phrase 'India for Indians,' a call that would later resonate with leaders like Lokmanya Tilak. His vision and teachings earned him recognition as one of the 'makers of Modern India,' a title bestowed upon him by notable figures such as Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and Sri Aurobindo.

A lifelong sannyasi and scholar, Dayananda firmly believed in the infallible authority of the Vedas and promoted the doctrines of karma and reincarnation. He emphasized the importance of brahmacharya, advocating for celibacy and devotion to God as essential Vedic ideals.

Dayananda's legacy is marked by his strong opposition to untouchability and his advocacy for equal rights for women. His commentaries on the Vedas, presented in both Vedic Sanskrit and Hindi, have inspired countless followers, including prominent figures such as Bhagat Singh, Lala Lajpat Rai, and Vallabhbhai Patel, among others.
