Dean Whitehead

Dean Whitehead, born on January twelfth, nineteen eighty-two, is a distinguished English football coach and former professional footballer. Renowned for his versatility on the pitch, he primarily played as a midfielder but also took on the role of right-back throughout his career. Over an impressive span of nineteen years, Whitehead made a remarkable six hundred and twenty-two league and cup appearances, netting twenty-nine goals.

Whitehead's football journey began at his local non-League club, Abingdon Town, before he transitioned to the Football League with Oxford United in nineteen ninety-nine. He played a pivotal role for Oxford in the Second Division until their relegation to the Third Division in two thousand one. His career took a significant turn in two thousand four when he signed with Sunderland, a Championship club. In his first season, he celebrated promotion, although Sunderland faced relegation from the Premier League shortly after. Under the leadership of Roy Keane, Whitehead was appointed captain, guiding Sunderland back to the top flight.

In two thousand nine, Whitehead joined Stoke City, where he contributed to the team's journey to the FA Cup final in two thousand eleven, finishing as runners-up to Manchester City. After four successful seasons with Stoke, he moved to Middlesbrough in two thousand thirteen, followed by a stint at Huddersfield Town, where he played a crucial role in their promotion from the Championship in two thousand seventeen. Whitehead hung up his boots in two thousand eighteen, marking the end of his playing career.
