Deborah Birx

Deborah Birx is a distinguished American physician and diplomat, renowned for her pivotal role in global health initiatives. She served as the coordinator of the White House Coronavirus Task Force under President Donald Trump from 2020 to 2021, where her expertise in immunology and vaccine research was instrumental during the pandemic.

Birx's career is marked by her specialization in HIV/AIDS immunology. Since 2014, she has been at the forefront of the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), overseeing treatment and prevention programs across sixty-five countries. Her leadership as the United States global AIDS coordinator spanned both the Obama and Trump administrations, showcasing her commitment to global health diplomacy.

In addition to her work with PEPFAR, Birx served as the United States special representative for global health diplomacy from 2015 to 2021. Her contributions to public health have been recognized internationally, and she continues to influence the field.
