Deepak Obhrai

Deepak Obhrai, born on July fifth, nineteen fifty, was a prominent Tanzanian-born Canadian politician and businessperson. He made significant contributions to Canadian politics, representing the riding of Calgary East until two thousand fifteen and subsequently Forest Lawn from two thousand fifteen onwards. His political journey began with the Reform Party of Canada, and he later became a member of the Conservative Party of Canada, serving from nineteen ninety-seven until his passing in two thousand nineteen.

Throughout his career, Obhrai held the esteemed position of Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. He was a trailblazer in Canadian politics, being the first Hindu to serve as a Member of Parliament. At the time of his death, he was recognized as the longest continuously serving Conservative MP, a testament to his dedication and commitment to his constituents.

In two thousand seventeen, Obhrai participated in the Conservative Party of Canada leadership election, showcasing his ambition and desire to lead within the party. Although he was defeated in the first round of voting, his candidacy highlighted his influence and respect within the political landscape.
