Dejan Savićević

Dejan Savićević, born on September fifteenth, nineteen sixty-six, is a distinguished Montenegrin former professional footballer renowned for his role as an attacking midfielder. His illustrious career began with Budućnost in Yugoslavia, but it was at Red Star Belgrade, starting in nineteen eighty-eight, where he truly made his mark. Savićević was instrumental in the team's triumph in the nineteen ninety–ninety-one European Cup and finished as the runner-up in the Ballon d’Or voting in nineteen ninety-one.

In nineteen ninety-two, he made a significant move to AC Milan, where he earned the nickname 'Il Genio' from the Italian sports press due to his exceptional skills on the pitch. During his time with Milan, he secured three Serie A titles and the prestigious UEFA Champions League in nineteen ninety-four, among other accolades. After a brief return to Red Star in nineteen ninety-nine, he concluded his playing career with Rapid Wien in two thousand one.

On the international stage, Savićević represented Yugoslavia in the FIFA World Cups of nineteen ninety and nineteen ninety-eight. Following his retirement from professional play, he transitioned into coaching, leading the Serbia and Montenegro national team from two thousand one to two thousand three.
