DeLisle Stewart

DeLisle Stewart, born on March sixteenth, eighteen seventy, was a prominent American astronomer whose contributions to the field have left a lasting legacy. In eighteen ninety-six, he joined the esteemed Harvard College Observatory, where he began to make significant strides in astronomical research.

From eighteen ninety-eight to nineteen oh-one, Stewart worked at the observatory's station in Arequipa, Peru. During this time, he played a crucial role in capturing the photographic plates that would later enable William Henry Pickering to discover Saturn's moon, Phoebe. His keen observations also led to the discovery of numerous new nebulas in the southern hemisphere of the night sky.

After his tenure at Harvard, Stewart continued his work at the Cincinnati Observatory until nineteen ten. His passion for astronomy extended beyond his research, as he founded the Cincinnati Astronomical Society, fostering a community of astronomy enthusiasts and promoting the study of the stars.
