Demba Ba, born on May 25, 1985, is a former professional footballer from Senegal who made a significant impact as a striker during his career. He began his journey in football with the French team Rouen in 2005, where he made his first-team debut. His talent quickly took him to Mouscron and then to TSG Hoffenheim in Germany in 2007, marking the start of an impressive international career.
In 2011, Ba joined West Ham United in the Premier League. Despite being the club's top goal scorer in the 2010–11 season, he played only twelve matches before the team faced relegation to the Championship. This led to his transfer to Newcastle United, where he continued to showcase his skills on the pitch.
In January 2013, Ba made a notable move to Chelsea for an undisclosed fee, further solidifying his reputation in top-tier football. Eighteen months later, he transitioned to Beşiktaş for a fee of six million euros, and after a successful season in Turkey, he ventured into the Chinese Super League with Shanghai Shenhua.
Born and raised in France, Ba proudly represented Senegal as a full international from 2007 to 2015, participating in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. After a distinguished career, he announced his retirement from football on September 13, 2021. Today, he serves as the chairman of the National Independent Soccer Association side Albion San Diego, continuing his legacy in the sport.
