Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Demetrios Petrokokkinos

Demetrios Petrokokkinos, born on April seventeenth, eighteen seventy-eight, was a notable Greek tennis player who made his mark in the early days of the sport. He participated in the inaugural modern Olympic Games held in Athens in eighteen ninety-six, representing his country with pride.

In the singles tournament, Petrokokkinos faced a challenging first round against fellow Greek competitor Evangelos Rallis. Unfortunately, he was unable to advance, finishing in a six-way tie for eighth place among the thirteen participants.

However, Petrokokkinos found success in the doubles event, teaming up with Dionysios Kasdaglis, a Greek player from Egypt. The duo showcased their skills by defeating Rallis and his partner Konstantinos Paspatis in the first round. Their impressive performance continued as they triumphed over Edwin Flack of Australia and George S. Robertson of Great Britain and Ireland in the semifinals, earning a spot in the final.

In the final match, Petrokokkinos and Kasdaglis faced a formidable pair consisting of Irishman John Pius Boland and German Friedrich Traun. Despite their valiant efforts, they finished as runners-up, securing a commendable second place in the tournament.
