Denis Gargaud Chanut

Denis Gargaud Chanut, born on July 22, 1987, is a distinguished French slalom canoeist who has made a significant mark in the sport since he began competing internationally in the C1 category in 2004. His journey in canoeing began at the age of twelve at a canoe-kayak club run by his aunt and uncle in Orléans, where he honed his skills and developed a passion for the sport.

Throughout his career, Gargaud Chanut has achieved remarkable success, including a gold medal in the C1 event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He has also earned nine medals at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships, showcasing his prowess with four golds, three silvers, and two bronzes across various events. His achievements extend to the European Championships, where he has secured nine medals, including three golds.

In 2011, Denis finished the season as the World No. 1 in the C1 event, and he later claimed the overall World Cup title in C1 in 2021. Despite facing fierce competition from Tony Estanguet, which led to his failure to qualify for the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, Gargaud Chanut persevered and continued to excel in his sport.

Beyond his athletic accomplishments, Denis is also an entrepreneur, founding and leading the Duo Tonic and Mulebar company, which specializes in producing energy bars, drinks, and gels for athletes.
