Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Denis Lortie

Denis Lortie, born on March tenth, nineteen fifty-nine, is a former corporal of the Canadian Forces whose life took a tragic turn in the mid-1980s. In nineteen eighty-four, Lortie infamously stormed the Parliament Building in Quebec City, armed with multiple firearms. This shocking act resulted in the deaths of three government employees and injuries to thirteen others, marking a dark chapter in Canadian history.

During the harrowing incident, René Jalbert, the serjeant-at-arms of the National Assembly, bravely volunteered to act as a hostage. For several hours, he engaged Lortie in conversation, ultimately persuading him to surrender peacefully to law enforcement authorities.

Initially convicted of first-degree murder in nineteen eighty-five, Lortie's conviction was later overturned by the Quebec Court of Appeal. In nineteen eighty-seven, he accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to reduced charges of second-degree murder. This led to a life sentence with no possibility of parole for ten years.

After serving time, Lortie was granted day parole in nineteen ninety-five, followed by full parole in nineteen ninety-six, allowing him to reintegrate into society after years of incarceration.
