Denise Lewis

Denise Lewis, born on August 27, 1972, is a distinguished British sports administrator and former athletics athlete, renowned for her expertise in the heptathlon. She achieved remarkable success during her athletic career, most notably winning the gold medal in the heptathlon at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Her accolades also include being a two-time Commonwealth Games champion and the 1998 European Champion, alongside securing silver medals at the World Championships in 1997 and 1999.

Lewis made history as the first European to win the Olympic heptathlon, a significant milestone in the sport, following the legacy of previous European champions in the pentathlon. Her personal best score of six thousand eight hundred thirty-one points, achieved at the Décastar meeting in 2000, not only set a former British record but also places her third on the all-time British lists, behind notable athletes Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Jessica Ennis-Hill.
