Denny Heck, born on July twenty-ninth, nineteen fifty-two, is a prominent American politician and entrepreneur currently serving as the seventeenth lieutenant governor of Washington since 2021. A dedicated member of the Democratic Party, Heck has had a long and impactful career in public service, including his tenure as the U.S. representative for Washington's tenth congressional district from 2013 to 2021.
Heck's political journey began in the state legislature, where he served as a state representative from nineteen seventy-seven to nineteen eighty-five. His ambition led him to run for Congress in 2010 as the Democratic nominee for the third congressional district, although he faced defeat at the hands of Republican Jaime Herrera Beutler. However, following redistricting, Washington's addition of a tenth congressional district provided Heck with a new opportunity.
In 2012, he successfully won the election for the newly established congressional seat, representing Pierce, Thurston, and Mason counties. His commitment to public service and the needs of his constituents was evident throughout his time in Congress, which lasted until 2021. In the 2020 election, Heck transitioned to the role of lieutenant governor, a position he continues to hold, having secured a second term in 2024.
