Hailing from Dublin, he made a significant mark in the world of motorsport, particularly during his tenure in Formula One from nineteen seventy-eight to nineteen eighty-two.

Before his foray into Formula One, Daly showcased his exceptional talent by clinching the British Formula Three Championship in nineteen seventy-seven. He made his Formula One debut at the United States Grand Prix West in nineteen seventy-eight, where he participated in sixty-four Grands Prix. Notably, he became the first Irish driver to score points in Formula One, amassing a total of fifteen championship points, a record that still stands as the highest for an Irish driver.
