Despina Vandi, born on July 22, 1969, in Tübingen, Germany, is a celebrated Greek singer and actress. At the tender age of six, her family relocated to Kavala, Greece, where her journey in music began. In the early 1990s, Vandi moved to Athens, signing with Minos EMI and releasing her debut albums, 'Gela Mou' in 1994 and 'Esena Perimeno' in 1996.

Her collaboration with renowned songwriter and producer Phoebus marked a turning point in her career. With the release of her third album, 'Deka Endoles' in 1997, Vandi achieved significant commercial success, further solidified by her multi-platinum album 'Profities' in 1999. She became a prominent figure in the laïko/pop genre, captivating audiences with her evolving stage presence and musical style.

Vandi's single 'Ipofero' released in 2000, became the best-selling single of all time in Greece. Following Phoebus' departure from Minos EMI, she joined Heaven Music, where her album 'Gia' in 2001 became her biggest commercial success, topping charts in Greece and Cyprus, and making her the first Greek artist to reach the top of a Billboard chart.

Throughout her illustrious career, Vandi has received numerous accolades, including three Arion Music Awards and ten MAD Video Music Awards. By 2010, she was recognized as the fourth top-certified Greek female artist, with eleven records certified platinum or multi-platinum. With over one million records sold in Greece by 2007, she earned the title of the 'queen' of Greek music.
