Diana Thorneycroft

Diana Thorneycroft, born in nineteen fifty-six, is a prominent Canadian artist residing in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her artistic journey has taken her across national and international stages, where her work has garnered attention for its innovative approach to photography, drawing, and sculpture/installation.

Thorneycroft is particularly known for her striking photographs of staged dioramas, which serve as a medium to delve into complex themes such as sexuality and national identity. Through her art, she challenges conventional perceptions of gendered bodies, often incorporating phalluses to blur these lines and provoke thought.

In addition to her artistic endeavors, Thorneycroft has dedicated a significant portion of her career to education. For twenty-five years, she served as a sessional instructor at the University of Manitoba's School of Art, where she inspired and guided countless students in their artistic pursuits.
